The Experience

Before You Go

Bring reef-safe sunscreen

Sun is intense and you’ll be exposed on the beach and walking through town—choose reef-safe SPF to protect both skin and marine life.

Wear water shoes

Beach entries are sandy with occasional cobbles and the estuary trail can be muddy—water shoes speed transitions and protect ankles.

Hydrate and snack between activities

Bottled water and protein bars are provided, but carry an extra drink if you’re sensitive to heat—tour lasts 5–6 hours.

Protect your phone and camera

Bring a waterproof pouch for snorkeling and a small bag for shore shots—the guide stops at several photogenic viewpoints.

Local Knowledge

Hidden Gems

  • Plaza Mijares murals and side-street galleries—smaller, locally run exhibitions rarely on major maps
  • Estero boardwalk viewpoint at sunset—quiet vantage for waders and reflections

Wildlife

  • Brown pelican
  • Great egret

Conservation Note

The nearby estuary is a protected wetland important for migratory birds and fish nursery grounds—visitors are asked to stay on paths and use reef-safe sunscreen to limit impacts.

San José del Cabo grew around a Jesuit mission founded in 1730 and was long inhabited by the Pericú people; the town’s current art scene reuses colonial-era spaces as galleries.
